I'm delighted to tell you that some of the stories from Bygone Derbyshire and Steady Past Your Granny's have now been recorded for transmission on the Ed George Afternoon Show's "Did I Ever Tell You..." slot.  The first story went out on Thursday, 5th November.  We'll post further broadcast dates and times when we know them.  More stories will be recorded shortly.

Bygone Derbyshire - latest article

The Bygone Derbyshire website seemed to go into hibernation for a while but I'm pleased to report that it appears to be back up and running again and some new articles have been uploaded.  The August and September articles for the DET have been combined as one piece and have now been posted for you to read, just follow the link to Bygone Derbyshire The October article, which completes this min-series about weddings, will appear in the DET on Wednesday, 21st October and we will post a link to it as soon as it appears on the Bygone Derbyshire website.

Bygone Derbyshire - latest article + authonomy

The (possibly) final part of the mini-series on television in the 1960s and 1970s appeared in the Derby Evening Telegraph on Tuesday, 28th July and can now be found on Bygone Derbyshire by following the link.  It would be great if all of you who have been kind enough to seek out the articles on Bygone Derbyshire and 'Mature Times' would also do me the huge favour of visiting the authonomy website (just click on the name in this sentence), register and 'back' Steady Past Your Granny's"  The benefit of registering is that not only do you get access to the whole of Steady Past Your Granny's" but you can also read thousands of other potential books, 'back' those you like and become an armchair literature reviewer by sending your comments directly to the authors.  You can also see the effect of your choices as your favourite books work their way up the charts on the website.  It's tremendously addictive and great fun, so come along and join us for a great read.

New Story in Derby Evening Telegraph + update on Bygone Derbyshire + New Website

The next DET story (provisionally called "A Slot on the Telly") should appear soon in the "Bygones" column.  We'll let you know the date as soon as we know.  A total of 16 of Philip's articles are now available via the Bygone Derbyshire website and over 4,000 visits have been made to these in total to date.  Thanks to everyone who has visited.  The new website is waiting on enough hours in the day becoming available to get to grips with the new software!

New Story in Derby Evening Telegraph

If you can cast your mind back to the morning School Assembly, then the story in Derby Evening Telegraph's 'Bygones' column on Tuesday, 17th March should have brought back some interesting memories (link to the story in Bygone Derbyshire will appear here as soon as it arrives on the website).  Whilst the Spring edition of the Burton Civic Society Newsletter (due out early April) will feature the first part of some reminiscences about my first (and subsequent) encounters with a gramophone shellac 78s and vinyl records in "The music goes round and round..."
